Joy Factory

Like most car companies, BMW was envious of Lexus' long-running holiday campaign. Unfortunately, our budget wasn't very luxurious. So, it'd be challenging to give Lexus a December to remember.

Luckily, our ACD knew some HD footage of the German factory was shot for an internal project. Hence, 'twas the season to make an automotive music video. We gave "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" a fresh remix and linked up with the editor of Kanye's "Touch the Sky" video. A short time later, we left with a spot good enough to run a couple years in a row.

With the theme of BMWs being toys for adults, we added billboard and print templates to the national TV spot for regional dealers to run in their markets.

This campaign's an oldie, but it still means a lot to me. It was my first national broadcast spot. And as a junior creative I got to participate in the concepting, write the copy, have major influence on the music and be in the room during the editing process.
